A roundup of unusual items from area police departments:
Identity theft leads to car spree
ENGLEWOOD (June 28): A resident thought he was a victim of identity theft when he received a letter from General Motors saying he purchased eight vehicles through the company’s employee vehicle purchase program for various people, none of whom he knew.
Also, the vehicles were purchased at a Cleveland franchise, and when the man called up there, the finance person said he would take care of it.
Later, GM informed the man he would have to repay $2,500 to $3,000 for each vehicle purchased, told him he would not be able to use his GM discount again until 2026 and threatened to take away his GM benefits in the area of insurance, dental and vision care.
The man recalled the person at the Cleveland franchise, but, wouldn’t you know it, that guy didn’t work there any more

Keep them in dark, air-tight, glass bottles away from exposure to heat or extreme temperature fluctuations. Handle with great respect and responsibility because these are concentrated oils. Keep them out of the reach of children.
Organic or Non Organic
Organic oils are extracted or distilled from plants not treated with pesticides, herbicides, irradiation, or any other type of unnatural treatment. Non-organic oils may contain toxic and unnatural substances that can be harmful or cause allergic reactions. You will pay more for oils distilled from organic plants because of the higher cost of growing with organic means.
Purchasing Essential Oils or Making Your Own
It is important to check out the information provided by the merchants for their products.

Blow it out of proportion. Personally, I tend to keep everything inside, but in my stories, I make it a thousand times worse than it really is and then let myself react. Fiction gives me the chance to vent without hurting anyone’s feelings ? a great gift when you have a mother-in-law who really does cry at the drop of a hat (not exaggerating here).
The downside, I must confess, is when other family members believe your fiction is fact. A case in point is my father. He simply refuses to believe that I have used my imagination to expand on little escapades, and insists that my mother-in-law is truly horrific. Of course, he was also worried about my caveman cop story; perhaps he thought I’d witnessed a crime? You never know with fathers?
The point is, when you are looking for bits of drama in your life to expand into a story, often the best place to start is, literally, in your own backyard.

Car accidents are bad enough. Accidents involving big rigs can be a hundred times worse, in terms of the number of other vehicles affected, the frequency of deaths, and the severity of injuries.
Causes of trucking accidents
These include all the causes of typical car accidents, such as driver intoxication, brake failure, and reckless driving, as well as others, such as:
? Overloaded trucks
? Oversized trucks
? Driver fatigue
? Driver inexperience
When a big rig driver engages in the same illegal behavior as some car drivers, the consequences can be far worse. Picture the scene when a big rig driver collides with a car because of:
? Speeding
? Failure to yield right of way
? Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs
Driver Regulation
In the early 1980s, the increasing number of 18-wheelers led to the formation of the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA). Laws were then enacted to improve big-rig driver responsibility. Such drivers were required to meet minimum national standards before they could obtain a Commercial Driver?s License (CDL).
Each state was also required to use uniform testing standards for licensing commercial drivers. And special endorsements are required for some vehicles:
? Double or triple tractor trailers
? Semi trucks loaded with hazardous materials
? Tank vehicles
? Combinations of tank and hazardous materials
Trucking Industry regulations
Interstate traffic is regulated by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSR).
